JEFFERSON, CO. Ala—A new study suggests Jefferson county leaders should increase sewer rates for hundreds of thousands of its customers.
Raftelis Financial based in Charlotte, North Carolina was asked by a Alabama federal court judge to   prepared a 122 page report suggesting a 6. 7 % across-the-board volumetric rate increase for the county’s nearly 500,000 customers. Eight other recommendations ranging from updating industrial waste surcharges to maintaining impact fees at the current levels were also recommended.
Some commissioners have questions while others have voice their opinions of not supporting the proposed rate hike.
