Parents in Colorado County, Texas were outraged Wednesday after pictures surfaced of a schoolteacher at a controversial costume party where several were dressed in black face.

People said they were upset that administrators in the Rice Consolidated School District would not discipline the teacher.

One picture showed two apparent white men wearing black makeup.

Another picture showed a man’s back with a sign reading “Obama—change we need, but it’s yo dollars we want.“

The Rice Consolidated school district superintendent confirmed that one of the women pictured next to someone in costume is a teacher.

“How can any African-American parent send their child to a school where they see teachers and faculty members disgracing them, depicting them in a very inflammatory way as far as the thickness of their nose, the broadness of their lips, the color of their skin and the texture of their hair?“ said Quanell X, the New Black Panther leader.

Superintendent Michael Lanier said the teacher was not in costume.

He said she made “a bad choice” and did not intend to bring harm in any way.

Lanier went on to say that she was the only employee pictured.

Quanell X said other district employees attended.

“We are absolutely angry with that school district and how they are choosing to handle this racial, bigoted, party that depicted African-Americans and Barack Obama in a very derogatory way. We’re also angry that the superintendent said no one would be disciplined.

The superintendent said he would conduct the investigation from his own office and determine what the punishment should be if there was punishment,“ he said.

Another picture showed a person apparently wearing black makeup with rollers in her hair, holding a fried chicken bucket and a beer.

In another image, a man wearing black makeup held a 40-ounce beer.

Quanell X said he wants to see all teachers and faculty members who attended the private party suspended until an independent investigation is completed.
