Video: Strong winds topple trees, power lines

Several homes in Birmingham area damaged by downed trees overnightCentral Alabama - The National Weather Service in birmingham has cancelled the high wind warning for Blount, Jefferson, Shelby and Chilton counties.
But Cherokee, Clay, and Coosa counties remain under a high wind advisory.
Because of the high winds, many trees have been uprooted. Power lines are down as well.

This tree is near Highway 280. NBC 13 HD’s Bettina Boateng snapped it earlier Monday morning.
Here’s a brief rundown of a few of the problem areas:
-In Ensley, a tree feel on a house in the 200 Bloock of 33rd Street
-Two big trees are down in Wylam on Buffalo Stree at Cambridge Street
-And there is a tree blocking Oxmoor road near library in Homewood
-Traffic lights are out at Roebuck Pkwy. at Hwy 11 and at I-59
-Traffic lights out: Hwy 52 at i-65 in Pelham, Arkadelphia Rd at I-59
-All lights out along Hwy 79 through Pinson
Roadway blocked due to trees:
-Narrows Rd
-NewCastle Rd in Centerpoint
-Shannon Rd near Ross Bridge, in front of Fire Station Road is blocked

-Disabled 18 wheeler I-65NB before I-459 right shoulder
-Jefferson County Sherriff’s have 102 different reports of trees in the
roadway. Jefferson County Sheriff’s office has recieved 102 calls!
-Coalburg Rd near Brookside is closed
-Hwy 119 in Shelby County near Pelham. In Indian Springs trees down, the road
is closed
-Sign in the road on Red Mtn Expy near University Blvd.
-Car in a ditch Carson Rd at 23rd Ave NW
-Tuscaloosa Police report trees down on the following streets and roadways: Kaulton Rd and Elm St NE Jack Warner Pkwy and NE 25th Ave E 2624 20th St
35th St and Exchange Ave Kauloosa Ave near Phifer Wire Co. 3506 29th St Power Lines across the road at 2664 24th St.
