A judge denied a delay for the trial for former Birmingham City Council member and Jefferson County Commissioner John Katopodis.
Katopodis is charged with gambling with money from a tax-funded, non- profit group.
Last week, his attorney, Jim Parkman, asked a judge to move the trial to July 13th.
Parkman recently represented Healthsouth founder Richard Scrushy and said that civil trial put him behind in preparing to defend katopodis.
Katopodis is scheduled to go on trial June 22nd.
