They’re the hottest gadgets in the world right now, but which one is better, the Apple iPhone or the Google G-1?
Is Google up to the challenge after Apple threw down the smart phone gauntlet?
Samir Kothari’s his company, Billshrink, compares cell phones and phone plans for a living.
He’s devoted pages to the G-1 phone standoff.
One thing he found: The G-1 can save you money.
“For the iPhone, it’s $50 for unlimited data and texting, $35 dollars for the G-1. That’s $15 a month saved. May not seem like much but over a two year plan, that’s more than the cost of the phone,“ he explained.
Another difference?
The G-1 is thicker because it snaps open to let you text in the traditional way, where the iPhone keeps the keyboard on its touch screen when you text.
Each phone works well on the 3-G network, but when it comes to music and video, Kothari says Apple gets the nod.
“In general, for people focused on multi-media, iPhone is still going to be the preferred phone,“ Kothari concluded.
Each phone basically puts a computer in the palm of your hand.
Whether you’re a G-man or an I-fan is up to you.
