DINWIDDIE, Va. (AP) - Virginia State Police say the driver of
one of Miley Cyrus’ tour buses was killed when the vehicle
overturned on a highway about 40 miles south of Richmond this
morning.
Police say 53-year-old William Douglas of Austin, Texas, died at
the scene.
Cyrus was not traveling with the group at the time of the crash.
Marty Zilio of Canada was injured in the crash and treated at a
local hospital. He’s a member of Cyrus’ production crew.
The Cyrus family says on her Web site that they’re “deeply
saddened by the loss of Bill ‘Uncle Bill’ Douglas” and that he’ll
be missed.
The bus was one of four traveling together from Long Island,
N.Y., where the 16-year-old singer performed last night. The group
was headed for Greensboro, N.C., for another show Sunday.
Miley Cyrus is the daughter of country star Billy Ray Cyrus and
appears on the Disney sitcom “Hannah Montana.“
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
