ATLANTA (AP) - Jennifer Payne was convinced no one would come to the Waffle House she managed for a Valentine’s Day candle-lit dinner. She figured if they did it was because the guys were cheap.
For whatever reason, couples attended last year, and now the Norcross-based Waffle House plans to expand the offering to 32 of its restaurants, including 10 in the Atlanta area.
Pink signs will invite customers to “get scattered, smothered and covered” in romance.
Payne recalls being inundated with callers wanting reservations. There were three times as many customers for the event than the same shift on normal days.
Most couples passed on waffles and eggs and went for the eatery’s high ticket items - steak and chops.
