U.S. Dollar And Gold Prices Drop In Overseas Financial Markets

LONDON (AP) - The U.S. dollar dropped Friday against other major currencies in European trading.

Gold prices also fell.

U.S. financial markets were closed in observance of the July Fourth holiday.

The euro traded at $1.5712, up from $1.5699 late Thursday in New York.

Other dollar rates in Europe compared with late Thursday in New York included included 106.68 Japanese yen, down from 106.77; 1.0233 Swiss francs, down from 1.0267, and 1.0153 Canadian dollars, down from 1.0186.

The British pound was quoted at $1.9831, up from $1.9829.

Gold traded in London at $930.75 per troy ounce, down from $939.75 late Thursday.
