PINSON, Ala. (AP) - Jefferson County officials say what they first thought was a hit-and-run accident was a double fatal, with two bodies found in a vehicle believed to have left the scene.

Lt. Randy Christian, spokesman for the Jefferson County sheriff’s office said a pickup driven by a 19-year-old woman was traveling north on Alabama 75 Tuesday evening when a car pulled out of a pharmacy parking lot and the two vehicles collided.

Christian says the young woman’s injuries were not life-threatening, and the other vehicle was found Wednesday upside down in nearby woods.

The bodies of Coda L. Davison and Elizabeth Davison, both 77 of Pinson, were found in the vehicle.

Investigators say the car flipped after the collision and wound up about 85 feet from the road.
