SHELBY COUNTY:  Deputies are releasing more information in the case of 5 people found dead inside the Cahaba Lakes apartment complex.  The apartment complex is located off Cahaba Beach Road, behind the Home Depot store on Highway 280.

Investigators say it all started around 5pm Wednesday, when a caller said they couldn’t reach their friend at the apartment.  The sheriff’s department arrived around 6pm, and could not get inside the apartment.  A key from the complex office did not work.  When deputies did get in, they say the found 5 males dead, on the living room floor.  Investigators are not yet releasing the victims’ identities, they have not yet established a motive.  Evidence technicians, coroners, and forensics experts are all at the scene, and plan to process the crime through out the night.  Several law enforcement agencies are at the scene, including the FBI, Alabama Bureau of Investigations, along with many local agencies.

Deputies will remain at the Cahaba Lakes complex through out the night.  Sheriff Curry would like to ask anyone with information about this investigation to contact the Sheriff’s Office by calling (205) 669-4181 and ask to speak with an investigator.  Witnesses may also go to http://www.ShelbySO.com and click on the “Report Criminal Activity” link or call (205)669-9116 to report information anonymously.
