Two Chilton County men have been charged
with murder after authorities discovered the body of an 18-year-old
shot and burning in a field.
The Montgomery Advertiser reports that Chilton County chief
deputy Shane Mayfield identified the victim as Steven Dorough of
Marbury in Autauga County. The Chilton County Sheriff’s Office says
the slaying occurred early Sunday.
Mayfield says those charged with murder are 21-year-old
Christopher Kroeger and 18-year-old Joshua Ready. They were being
held in the Chilton County Jail under bonds of $500,000 each.
Authorities say Dorough was shot in the head with a shotgun and
his body was set on fire. Dorough had completed basic training in
July and was a member of the Army Reserve.
