Tuscaloosa police officer on leave pending investigation into alleged sexual assault

TUSCALOOSA, Ala.— The Tuscaloosa Police Department released a media statement regarding the notice of a Tuscaloosa police officer on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation into sexual assault allegations.

The media release issued by the department’s spokesperson Sergeant Robert Fourt stated the following:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Members of the Tuscaloosa County Homicide Unit are investigating an alleged sexual assault which occurred in Vance this morning at approximately 6:45AM.
The victim in the alleged assault has identified a Tuscaloosa Police Officer as the suspect.
At this time no arrest has been made and the case is under investigation. Though TPD investigators are assigned to the Homicide Unit, no Tuscaloosa Police Department personnel are involved in the investigation.
The officer has been placed on administrative leave, with pay, pending the outcome of the investigation.
