COKER-Strong winds blew through the small lakeside community of Lake Arnedra toppling trees onto homes and into the lake.
After 7 a.m. Wednesday Larry Carson of Coker heard tornado sirens and peered out the back window of his home and saw the storm approaching.
“I saw a funnel and then turned and grabbed my wife and headed for the bathroom. As soon as we hit the floor we started praying and that’s when it all happened.“
A large red oak tree that once towered behind his home came crashing down splitting his home of 18 years in half. The tree landed in his bathroom just inches from he and his wife.
Thankfully no one was hurt.
A few other homes in the area suffered damage from fallen trees.
Tuscaloosa EMA tells NBC 13 that there are numerous reports of fallen trees and power lines in the Coker and Samantha area.
