Traffod Man Arrested for Murder and Attempted Murder

Deputies responded to the 1900 block of Gurley Rd. Trafford, Al on a report of a person down. The home owner, 43 year old Tommy Joe Tyler reported that he shot two people that had broken into his house. Investigation revealed that Tyler had lured his estranged wife and a man to the home and shot them once inside.

The victim was located in the front room of the home dead on the scene with a gun shot wound to the head. The suspect’s estranged wife, 31 year old Jenifer Tyler suffered non life threatening injuries when a bullet grazed her neck. The victim was identified as 49 year old Steven Milton Blanks.

Tommy Joe Tyler was placed under arrest and is being held in the Jefferson County Jail on Murder ($75,000 bond) and Attempted Murder ($60,000 bond) charges.
