Shelby County Murder Probe Continues

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the murders of five men, whose bodies were discovered at a Buckhorn Cove apartment on Wednesday, August 20, 2008. Four of the five victim’s identities have been released and the fifth victim has been tentatively identified. The release of the fifth victim’s name is pending positive identification from the Shelby County Coroner’s Office.
Sheriff’s investigators and investigators from numerous local, state and federal law enforcement agencies continue to search for two more witnesses. The names of these individuals will not be released unless their status in this case changes.
In the course of this investigation, 24 search warrants were obtained and executed (17 of those in Shelby County and seven in Jefferson County). In all, 14 vehicles, 14 weapons including 12 assault rifles, one handgun, one shotgun, and approximately 426 grams of methamphetamine, 20 grams of cocaine and drug paraphernalia have been seized. Investigators continue to process and examine all of the evidence gathered to date. The Sheriff’s Office will work to ensure that the weapons seized do not make it back onto the street through judicial proceedings.
Sheriff’s investigators are awaiting the final autopsy and toxicology reports. The status of the suspects arrested and charged with Capital Murder in this case has not changed. They remain jailed without bond.
