MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Gov. Bob Riley has directed flags on
state government buildings to be flown at half-staff until sunset
Tuesday as a tribute to those killed at Fort Hood, Texas.
The governor is encouraging local governments and schools to do
the same thing.
Riley called the killings at Fort Hood “a shocking tragedy that
has brought our nation together in grief.“
One of the soldiers wounded at Fort Hood was Alabama Army
National Guard Maj. Randy Royer. Riley said he spoke with Royer’s
wife by phone on Friday.
