Sheriff’s investigator Sgt. Randy Sanford said patrol deputies responded to two calls Thursday night in the McCollum community regarding shots being fired.
The first incident occurred around 8 p.m. when someone reportedly drove by a house in the 1100 block of McCollum Road and fired a shot into the home. The shot, which is believed to have been fired from either a shotgun or rifle went through a front wall on the house, then through the front door and through the living room before finally planting itself in a wall in the kitchen.
Sanford said the house was occupied at the time of the shooting by six people, including four children but no one inside was injured
Sheriff’s Deputies also took another report in the same area regarding a dog that had been shot and killed at a residence on Walnut Circle, which runs between Kings Mill Road and Old Shiloh Road.

Detectives with the Jasper Police Department are also searching for the person or persons responsible for a drive-by shooting that occurred Thursday night in the 1400 block of Alabama Hwy. 69 South in Jasper.  Shots were reportedly fired into a house near the intersections of Highway 69 and Old Tuscaloosa Road around 10 p.m. The shot was believed to have been fired from a shotgun. The two departments aren’t sure if the three incidents are related.
