MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - A 60-year-old man defending himself in a
robbery attempt in his driveway on Halloween night faced no
immediate charges in the shooting death of a 17-year-old boy and
the wounding of another teen.
Deputy Police Chief James Barber said the two teens were shot
Friday after they apparently followed their victim to his home from
an automatic teller machine and used a handgun in the robbery
attempt. The victim pulled his own weapon and fired.
Barber said Antonio Austin was killed and 19-year-old Robert
Howez was shot in the back. He was in fair condition Tuesday at the
University of South Alabama Medical Center.
Barber said both teens attended Vigor High School. The robbery
victim’s name was not released.
