COLUMBUS, Ga. (AP) - A Phenix City man led Columbus police
officers on a chase when they arrived to arrest him.
Police say officers were sent at 7:20 a.m. Saturday to arrest
27-year-old Sylvester Davis, who was reportedly in a car on a
Columbus street. When officers ordered Davis to roll down his
window and stick out his hands, he started the engine and drove
away.
When the car hit a mailbox and stopped, Davis jumped out and
fled on foot. Officers searched the area and found Davis behind a
house.
Police say Davis has outstanding warrants for armed robbery,
aggravated assault, robbery, possessing a firearm while committing
a crime, criminal trespass, stalking and misdemeanor theft.
Now he also faces drug charges and other charges related to the
chase.
