People can help search for Nadia Kersh
Missing Homewood mother Nadia Kersh
HOMEWOOD, Ala—Police are sweetening the pot, hoping nearly $36,000 entices someone to come forward with information that helps them locate Nadia Kersh and possibly leads to a suspect’s arrest.
The FBI kicked in $20,000 on top of the original $15,000 reward.
Two other people added $900 more.
“We strongly feel that there are people out there who have information on this case who will help us out in our investigation,” Lt. Ken Atkinson said.
Detectives also want to give all the people who’ve offered help a chance to make a difference in the case.
Kersh hasn’t been seen since November 3rd when she left her job at a Homewood grocery store.
This Thursday, anyone who wants to help can participate in ground searches.
“Even if you haven’t searched before, if you’re able bodied and you’re ready to help us, we can explain exactly what we need you to do,” Lt. Atkinson said.
Police encourage everyone to come out, including those who have special tracking skills or equipment like all-terrain vehicles and search dogs.
Search parties will be dispatched to several sites around Birmingham, and will walk search areas looking for evidence or signs of Nadia Kersh.
“It’s going to be extremely cold Thursday morning. Understand if you come, you’re going to be outside, you’re going to be walking through underbrush and woods, wear appropriate clothing and understand there will be a lot of walking involved in it,” Lt. Atkinson said.
With several hunting seasons opening this weekend, police are asking hunters to be vigilant for clues as well.
