UPDATE: Pell City Officer Injured in Crash Dies

Pell City Police Officer Greg Surles,29, has died.

Surles, who was a 6 year veteran of the Pell City Police Department, was seriously injured in an auto accident last month.

According Pell City Mayor Adam Stocks, Surles died at 9:50 this morning.

The Pell City community rallied around Surles and his family for 17 days as he struggled to survive his injuries.

Doctors at UAB Hospital say Surles was not responding to treatment, and his family decided to remove him from life support Friday morning.

Surles is survived by his wife, Robin, and his two daughters, Makensi, 4, and Madalyn, 11 weeks.
