HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - The family of a former German rocket
scientist who helped the U.S. send astronauts to the moon has
donated his papers and memorabilia to the University of Alabama in
Huntsville.
The collection from the family of Konrad Danneberg includes
books, photos, awards, memorabilia, models and documents. They
include his immigration papers when he came to the U.S. after World
War II to continue working with Dr. Wernher von Braun’s team of
rocket scientists.
Danneberg died in February at 96.
Archivist Anne Coleman said the university is honored to have
the work of the propulsion pioneer and original member of von
Braun’s team.
