MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Several schools across Alabama will
participate in “Mix It Up at Lunch Day” on Nov. 10.
Students will be asked to sit with someone new at the cafeteria
on Tuesday. The Southern Poverty Law Center launched the program,
which is designed to get students to develop better relationships.
So far 2,689 schools across the country have committed to mixing
things up at lunchtime.
Many organizers are planning activities throughout the day to
teach children the value of getting along with others of different
backgrounds, interests or cultures.
A map of participating schools can be found on the center’s Web
site.
