McCalla Wreck Victim Identified

The driver of a SUV which collided with a dump truck yesterday in McCalla has been identified as 32-year-old Michael Ross. Ross was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident on McAshan Drive, between Eastern Valley Road and Alabama 216. The accident happened when a west-bound dump truck crossed the center line and side swiped the jeep.

A 29-year-old female passenger in the SUV was taken to UAB Hospital and Ross’ 4-year-old daughter was taken to Children’s Hospital. Neither passenger suffered life-threatening injuries. The driver of the dump truck was not injured.
