Macon County Greyhound Park ordered to pay woman

  SHORTER, Ala. (AP) - A circuit judge has ordered Macon County
Greyhound Park to pay $10 million to a woman who sued the park in a
dispute over an electronic bingo game jackpot.
    An attorney for the track in Shorter, John Bolton III, said
owner Milton McGregor plans to appeal the Aug. 27 judgment for
Sherry Knowles.
    Knowles, who was an employee at dog track, was playing a game
there on May 2, 2006.
    She said she hit a jackpot on the machine worth $41.8 million,
but two employees approached and told her the jackpot was “not a
valid win” because the machine had malfunctioned.
    Knowles sued the park on May 16, 2006, claiming she was entitled
to recover damages for being “wrongfully deprived” of the win.
