Local Area Foreclosure Workshop

Local residents looking to save their homes received some free help today.
   
Alabama’s foreclosure rate jumped by about 25% from December to January.

That’s an increase of more than 58% year to year.
   
Today Neighborhood Housing Services of Birmingham held a foreclosure seminar for struggling homeowners.
   
The organization works with lenders to help negotiate lower mortgage payments and waive fees and penalties.

The next workshop will be March 11, 2009 at 601 19th Street North, Birmingham, AL 35203. It begins at 6:00p.m.

Here’s a list of what items you’ll need to bring:

Settle statement
Truth in Lending
Proof of income
Current Bank Statements
Utility Bills
Physician’s statement, if applicable
Termination of unemployment benefits notice, if applicable
Most recent correspondence from lender (GMAC or Homecomings)
Copy of driver’s license or government ID
Social Security Card
