MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Alabamians are going to the polls in small numbers to decide the Republican nominees for two congressional seats, an appeals court position and president of the Public Service Commission.

Election officials describe the turnout Tuesday as light.

Montgomery County’s elections director, Trey Granger, said the turnout is better in the part of Montgomery County that is in the 2nd Congressional District. That’s because the 2nd District has a heated Republican runoff between state Rep. Jay Love and state Sen. Harri Anne Smith.

Secretary of State Beth Chapman’s staff reports no problems with the election as of late morning.
