BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—- Former Birmingham Mayor Larry Langford has requested a new trial along with change of venue.

The motion was filed late Wednesday afternoon by Langford’s attorney Michael Rasmussen.

Exactly one week ago, a federal jury convicted Langford on all 60 counts in bribery conspiracy involving Jefferson County bond contracts.

In Wednesday’s filing, Rasmussen argued that Langford should have been allowed to present more testimony about his generosity.

During the trial in Tuscaloosa, Judge Scott Coogler prohibited Pastor Ocie Oden from telling the jury that Langford had given him dozens of suits over the years.

Oden was allowed to only mention one suit Langford gave him from a high end New York City men’s clothing store.

The jury returned the verdict in the case in less than two hours and Rasmussen stated in Wednesday’s motion that “indicated almost no deliberation, especially given the fact that they took a smoke break before returning the verdict.“

Rasmussen is also asking for a change of venue; a motion denied at the beginning of the trial despite Coogler granting Rasmussen’s previous request to originally move the trial to Tuscaloosa from Birmingham.

Langford also renewed his previous motion for a judgment of acquittal on basis of lack of evidence.

Langford faces a maximum of 804 years in prison.

His sentencing date has not been set.

Is he going to keep trying different cities and counties untill he gets an innocent verdict. he doesn’t deserve another trial, he’s guilty as sin and everyone knows it.

Jenny Sanford, wife of disgraced South Carolina Governor, Mark Sanford, summed up her husband’s issues, and most politicians in general, when she said:  “Power corrupts !  I did my very best to keep Mark grounded, but it didn’t work.  Too many politicans think they’re invincable and above the law”

Larry Lankford’s ego and arrogance parallels that of Geroge Bush and Dick Cheney (who, SADLY, I helped elected to office).  Lankford will never be granted a new trial, or change of venue, for evidencuary, racial, judical, media bias, or attorney issues.  The evidence was accurate, powerful, unquestionable, overwhelming, could not be disputed, discredited, or “reasonable doubt” established. Larry Lankford will be claimning his innonence the rest of his life - because he drank his own KOOL AID!

If any Judge grants this we go after him next! We can have Judges removed as well.
