BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—- Attorney Jim Parkman, who is representing both Richard Scrushy and John Katopodis, is asking for a trial delay in the Katopodis case.

Katopodis is scheduled to go to trial on June 22nd.

He’s charged with gambling with money from a tax-funded non-profit group designed to provide computers for inner city children.

Parkman filed the request in federal court Wednesday morning.

The attorney just finished representing Richard Scrushy in an 11 day civil trial over claims the HealthSouth founder directed the company’s corporate fraud scandal.

Parkman claims that trial has put him behind in his preparation for the Katopodis trial.

He’s asking Judge Karen Bowdre to postpone the trial until July 13th.

This would be his third delay, we need to get this trial underway! What about the best interest of the taxpayers?
