DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) - A judge has scheduled a hearing Feb. 18 to
consider legal issues surrounding the closed Country Crossing
casino in Dothan.
Circuit Judge P.B. McLauchlin scheduled the hearing during a
meeting Tuesday with attorneys for Country Crossing and for the
Governor’s Task Force on Illegal Gambling.
The judge said he will consider whether the litigation filed by
Country Crossing against the governor’s task force is still pending
before him and whether he can rule on the legality of the gambling
machines at Country Crossing.
Country Crossing closed its 1,700 machines and the rest of its
facilities Jan. 29 to prevent a raid by the governor’s task force.
