Judge continues ban of electronic bingo in Walker

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - A Jefferson County judge has upheld a
decision that electronic bingo is illegal in Walker County.
Circuit Court Judge Robert S. Vance stood by his Oct. 16 order
that the machines be outlawed in the county. Attorneys for bingo
charities, operators and game manufacturers had asked that he
reconsider his position because of a recent Alabama Supreme Court
ruling in a Lowndes County bingo case.
Vance originally ruled that legislators and voters did not
approve the electronic form of the popular game when Walker
County’s bingo amendment was OK’d in 1992.
