Jefferson County deputy involved in wreck
Associated Press
A Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputy was taken to UAB Hospital after a crash in Walker County.
It happened just after 9PM Saturday on U.S. Highway 78 near the Warrior River Bridge.
The Sheriff’s Office says the deputy’s cruiser was hit by a pickup truck that pulled onto the highway from Sipsey Road, causing the deputy’s vehicle to rest about 100 feet down an embankment.
The unidentified deputy was taken to UAB Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A pregnant passenger in the pickup truck was also taken to UAB Hospital as a precaution. No one else was injured.
The Alabama State Troopers are investigating the accident.

to aim 72 I wish you were right and he was on a case but I live in walker county and I can assure you for the last three years that I have been here a jefferson county sheriff who lives down the road drives a cruiser home and back everyday and goes to wal mart and all with his family jeff county in debt maybe they need to review their policies on the sheriff department priviledges
I was in the Pinson Movie Gallery, when a Jefferson County sheriff pulled into the lot.He got out of his cruiser, opened the back door and his two childern got out of the car dressed in there baseball uniforms to rent a movie. He had used his cruiser to pick his kids up from the game and brought them to rent a movie.I have no problem with being a good father, but did he have to use the counties car and fuel.I wonder how often things like this go on.
momtoall, I agree it’s very strange, very strange that a jeffco sheriff’s deputy would wreck in Walker Co. WHY? Was he on a case? Who knows.
amazing isn’t it the sherriff says there is no way to cut his budget here’s one why is Jefferson county sheriffs driving in Walker county? could it be that Jefferson county taxpayer are buying gas and keeping cars for deputies who do not even live in Jefferson county. That’s why we need a new man to run the sheriff department
