Officers responding to an alarm call at Sunny Foods (Shell) located at the intersection of Riverchase Parkway and Valleydale Road shortly after midnight on July 4 arrested a suspect suspected of stealing gasoline from the station.

Detectives are continuing the investigation, and are working to identify additional suspects.  The suspects were using two pickup trucks which had been specifically modified for the purpose of gasoline theft.  These trucks have been impounded.

This is the forth incidence of gasoline theft at this station since June 25, 2008.  Measures have been taken to prevent this type of theft in the future.
The suspect, who is 30 years old and from the Ensley area, will be charged with Felony Theft through the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office.
There have been no other instances of this type of gasoline theft in Hoover.
