BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - There was a time when U.S. 280 provided an easy trip for the few commuters who lived in rural areas south of Birmingham or a scenic route to Auburn or Columbus, Ga.
But as Alabama’s largest city has grown to the south, that once quiet commute has become a congested nightmare and bumper-to-bumper traffic.
Gov. Bob Riley plans to meet at 10 a.m. Monday with legislators from Jefferson and Shelby counties to discuss plans to ease traffic congestion along the busy highway. The meeting will take place at the Alabama Department of Transportation’s office on Bankhead Highway in Birmingham.

I always laugh when I hear of someone complaining about 280 traffic. I am 45 years old, traffic has always been bad on 280 yet more and more people want to move in an area where they have to drive on it.
here is an idea quit moving down the 280 road any one that has moved there in the last ten years knew the traffic was going to be bad and only get worst stop your crying y’ll are like the people that buy a house near an airport the complaine about the noise.
