has been arrested by Cullman County Sheriff’s investigators on
child pornography and extortion charges.
Derrick LePard of Holly Pond, a former science teacher at Cold
Springs High School, was arrested Wednesday at his home. The
Cullman County grand jury indicted him for attempting to produce
child pornography and attempting to commit extortion. LePard’s
arraiagnment is set for Aug. 3.
Sheriff Tyler Roden said the child pornography charge did not
involve any students at Cold Springs or any residents of the
county.
Roden would not elaborate on the extortion charge other than it
was based on several text messages allegedly sent by LePard to some
Cold Springs students.
LePard bonded out of jail around 2:30 Wednesday.
