Former HealthSouth exec gets prison time

  BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Another former HealthSouth executive is
going to prison for his role in a huge financial fraud at the
Birmingham-based rehabilitation company.
    A judge sentenced former HealthSouth finance chief Tadd McVay to
three months in prison for his role in the fraud.
    McVay already has served five years on probation and six months
of house arrest after pleading guilty in the scheme six years ago.
But an appeals court ruled that penalty was too lenient, so U.S.
District Judge Inge Johnson on Tuesday ordered McVay to prison for
90 days.
    McVay has said he was promoted to chief financial officer at
HealthSouth in late 2002. He said he signed a phony earnings
statement rather than lose his job, which paid $400,000 a year.
