Forestry Commission Sends More Firefighters to Texas

  MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Another group of Alabama wildland
firefighters are headed to Texas.
    The Alabama Forestry Commission said a seven-member team
departed early Friday from Luverne. Two more firefighters will
leave early Saturday.
    The Alabama groups are the ninth and tenth crews sent to the
Lone Star state since February.
    State Forester Linda Casey said the Alabama crew will serve an
18 day assignment.
    Since January, more than 9,800 wildfires in west Texas have
scorched more than 1.3 million acres.
