Court records outline Larry Langford’s debt

Langford’s outstanding debt was outlined in federal court filings unsealed over the weekend.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Court filings unsealed over the weekend show Larry Langford’s outstanding debt and help explain why he argued he could not afford his defense attorneys.
In August, Judge Scott Coogler declared Langford indigent based on arguments and filings made under seal, and appointed attorney Michael Rasmussen to represent him.
That means federal taxpayers would foot the bill for Langford’s trial defense.
An affidavit unsealed late Friday, lists Langford’s total outstanding debt as of late July as $567,040.25.
The debts included: $65,000 to BBVA Compass Bank, $2,500 to Belks, $13,000 to Gus Meyer, $46,000 to Compass Bank, $18,000 to AmSouth Bank, $120,000 note to Al LaPierre and $60,000 to legal fees.
The affidavit stated that Langford made $11,360 a month and his wife Melva earned $5,100 monthly.
Langford was convicted last Wednesday on all 60 counts he faced from a federal indictment charging him with accepting $235,000 in cash and gifts in exchange for steering county bond swap business towards his friends while Langford served as President of the Jefferson County Commission.

Having the citizens of B’ham pay his attorney’s fees is another thing. Why does he need two residents, well we all know the answer to that. He had to be sneaky and get the loft apartment just to run for mayor and the people of B’ham were dumb enough to let that slide. And now we know why he wanted out of the Jefferson County commission, he had pulled a Visionland over on the people of Jefferson County. Sad day for politics.
To call somebody a snake after being found guilty of using his position for personal gain, that’s real good. After holding conferences just for the black men, women, and families of this city at the Fairpark Arena I new what kind of racist he was, then being dumb enough to let two white men use him for the bidding process, doesn’t that bother the black community at all. All he got was some debts payed off and some clothes. Larry is getting what he deserves.
Mr and Mrs Looser Langford are the biggest racist! They used a WHITE man for his money. If as Mrs Langford stated “a black person cannot get a fair trial in Alabama” is true tell me why are they so gung ho to live here??? Go move on destroy and rape another state ...I am SICK of the black racist!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The last thing Langford is, is remorseful. He should have been cuffed and stuffed on the spot. He has done more financial harm to this city than can even be counted and honestly, I am sick of hearing what a “good guy” he is/was. He is a HUGE thief and liar and should spend the rest of his life in jail, period. Thanks for the memories Larry, thanks for NOTHING.
Almost a quarter of a mil. a year and he couldn’t afford a lawyer? Right…Sounds like he knew he was going to go bye bue..I wonder if heis wife will be able to make it on her paultry 61,000.00 a year?
