TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama will resume its normal operations on Monday, Jan. 4, 2010 as scheduled.  However, given the number of students who have to be in Pasadena, Calif. to represent UA on Jan. 7 and the number of faculty, staff and students who want to be there, classes will be dismissed Jan. 6-8. Students should expect additional assignments to make up for the lost class time.

Staff who wish to attend the National Championship game will need to work with their supervisors to ensure their work can be covered and to arrange annual leave.

Residence halls will re-open on Sunday, Jan. 3 as planned. The University expects approximately 200 students for new student orientation. Because many of these new students and their families have made travel plans that will be difficult to change, the orientation will be held on Monday, Jan. 4 as planned and this orientation will be repeated on Friday, Jan. 8. All offices will be open throughout the week with staff available to help students with registration related issues or any other needs
