Budget woes prompt layoffs in Orange Beach

    ORANGE BEACH, Ala. (AP) - Orange Beach officials plan to cut 23 full-time jobs to make up for a $3 million budget shortfall.

    The job cuts were approved by the city council and Mayor Tony Kennon Thursday night.

    City officials said the layoffs will save an estimated $2 million annually.

    No word on which positions will be eliminated.

    Affected workers will be told starting today.
