BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—-
Former Jefferson County Commissioner Mary Buckelew is set to be sentenced Thursday morning for lying to a federal grand jury in August 2008.

Buckelew has pleaded guilty to lying to the grand jury about receiving about $4,000 in gifts from investment banker Bill Blount between 2003-2004.

Blount received millions of dollars in county bond swap business while Buckelew served on the Jefferson County Commission.

Blount has pleaded guilty to a bribery conspiracy involving former Birmingham Mayor Larry Langford who was convicted himself 3 weeks ago.
Prosecutors are asking Judge Inge Johnson to sentence Buckelew to 6 months in prison and order her to pay a $30,000 fine.
