Brookwood Medical Center expands psychiatric unit

Brookwood Medical Center is set to expand its psychiatric department.

Brookwood officials say construction is scheduled to begin in mid-January.

The $8 million dollar project is expected to take a year to complete.

The project will bring the number of beds in that ward to 138, making it the largest private provider of inpatient psychiatric services in the state.
