BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - An Alabama soldier who was killed in the Korean War is finally coming home.

The Defense Department says testing has positively identified the remains of Army Master Sgt. Silas W. Wilson, a Cullman County native. Wilson was killed in 1950 in North Korea, and his remains were located in North Korea in 2004.

Wilson’s remains were bound for Alabama on Wednesday, and a funeral was planned for Sunday at Friendship Baptist Church in Upshaw.
Marie Wilson Cleghorn never met her father and she knew he was dead, but she’s prayed for his return for decades. She said he’s finally going to be home for Christmas.
