Bingo operator sued over Ala. mayor’s winnings

  EUTAW, Ala. (AP) - A lawsuit claims that Birmingham Mayor Larry
Langford won more than $20,000 at rigged electronic bingo machines
at Greenetrack in Eutaw last month.
    The Birmingham News says Beverly Green, a Tuscaloosa resident,
filed the suit Wednesday against Greenetrack alleging Langford was
escorted to rigged machines where he won more than $20,000 on Sept.
25.
    The allegations mirror those brought in two cases in Macon
County Circuit Court that claim the electronic bingo hall at
VictoryLand had machines rigged to pay Langford.
    The lawsuit filed in Greene County Circuit Court calls Langford
“a friend and political ally of Greenetrack owners.“
    Langford federal trial in a bribery case is set to begin Oct. 19
in Tuscaloosa.
    Langford says the timing of the lawsuits is not coincidental but
declined to say if he visited Greenetrack that day.
