Cullman, Ala. (AP) - A U.S. Marine trainee has been returned to Alabama to face child sexual abuse charges.

According to the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office, investigators placed 19-year-old Matthew Wade Mork, a Cullman native, in the county jail on Tuesday.

Mork faces sodomy and the sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old. Investigators said a criminal complaint was filed in May by one the child’s parents.

The alleged abuse occurred over a two-year period.

Authorities said Mork was stationed at the Marine Corps Recruiting Depot at Parris Island, near Beaufort, South Carolina. He was being held on $65,000 bond.
