Alabama Governor Promotes Car Pooling
Published: August 27, 2008
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Gov. Bob Riley is on the road urging
commuters to car pool to work.
Riley scheduled a news conference Wednesday in Birmingham using
a van from the CommuteSmart program. The program helps workers
participate in car pools or van pools to save money and reduce
traffic congestion.
This is Riley’s second effort to promote car pooling by workers.
He did the same thing in Montgomery earlier in the year to
encourage ride sharing by state workers.
