GADSDEN, Ala. (AP) - A jury in Gadsden has recommended the death
penalty for a 25-year-old man convicted of murdering his
girlfriend’s 2-year-old daughter.
Jurors deliberated about three hours Monday before returning a
unanimous recommendation that Timothy Scott Boyle be given the
death penalty in the 2005 death of Savannah White.
Boyle was convicted Thursday of capital murder.
The Gadsden Times reported that James Lauridson, the forensic
pathologist who performed the autopsy, told the jury cigarette
burns on the child most likely were not accidental. He explained
other markings he found on the body, which included bruises on her
face, shoulders and legs.
Boyle took the witness stand Monday and told of being abused as
a child.
