MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Gov. Bob Riley has urged gaming
commissions in seven states to make sure the gambling machine
manufacturers they regulate cease all illegal activity in Alabama.
Riley says an Alabama Supreme Court decision Friday in a White
Hall case makes it clear that all electronic bingo machines in
Alabama are illegal.
Riley notified gaming commissions in Nevada, New Jersey,
Michigan, Colorado, Mississippi, Louisiana and Arizona about the
decision.
Gambling operations in Alabama are proceeding despite the rule.
Developer Ronnie Gilley says he will open Country Crossing in
Dothan as planned on Dec. 1, and he expects its electronic bingo
machines to meet the Supreme Court’s criteria.
