Hundreds turned out for Birmingham's controversial gay pride parade downtown Saturday night. The year's theme: "Pride 365, Building a Stronger Community." Revelers made their way along a mile-long stretch of Five Points South. Not everyone who turned out was happy to see the parade- protesters were also on-hand. Ministers from Georgia came to warn gays and lesbians they would not get into heaven. Mayor Larry Langford said while he does not support the parade or a gay life style he had to legally grant the permit. Several dozen gay Christians argued with the protestors for about two hours. The parade lasted for less than twenty minutes but there were no safety incidents.
