Consumers Get Creative, Cut Back On Gas

» 0 Comments | Post a Comment

Now that gas is at the $3.70 mark in Alabama, people are getting creative and finally beginning to cut back.

This time last year, drivers complained when gas was $2.88 a gallon. Experts predict prices could hit the $4 mark by the summer.

A real sign of the times are the lengths that people will go to save money at the pump. Chrysler is offering its new drivers a set price of $2.99 a gallon for three years. If you have an ethanol efficient vehicle for 85 cents a gallon you could fill up - for 85 minutes last week. Analysts believe more of these money saving deals will become available.

Prices at the pump are affecting Memorial Day travel. Many are expecting to have “stay-cations” instead of vacations, where they stay closer to home. Analysts predict holiday travel should decrease by 1 percent from last year.
